Project Overview
At a beautiful old Victorian house at Palmerston Road in Rathmines, a stunning Georgian home underwent a deep retrofit. The homeowners had a clear goal: upgrade their heating system to underfloor heating on the first and second floors, while preserving the building’s unique architectural features.
This posed several challenges—but also created the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the performance and versatility of our LowBoard 2® underfloor heating system.
The Challenge

▶️ Beautiful coving on the ground floor needed to be preserved without cracking or disturbance.
▶️ High ceilings meant traditional heating solutions were inefficient.
▶️ The client wanted to remove radiators for a cleaner, more spacious aesthetic.

Installation Details
Together with AAA Construction, known for high-quality retrofit work since 2004, we delivered a seamless and precise installation. The LowBoard 2® system was laid across the upper floors with zero impact on the historic coving on the ground level. The heating performance exceeded expectations, particularly in overcoming the inefficiency caused by the home’s high ceilings.

The product overcame all the challenges posed. There was real concern regarding the disruption caused during the installation process, with the need to protect the historic coving on ground floor ceilings. Low Board 2 met all challenges posed, offering the perfect system for this retrofit application, overcoming the main concerns of protecting the ground floor coving and heating efficiently the high ceiling rooms, creating more wall space by removing the old radiators, and it had the added benefit of productivity and ease of installation.
