FAQ - Underfloor Heating Solutions
What makes our system different from others on the market?
The system is a dry install system, meaning no screed encasement of pipes, leaving the pipes closest to your finish floor, and not having to heat an entire concrete slab. “Pipes still filled with water” Our system is a low-profile ranging anywhere from 18mm “low board” 25mm “XPS file boards” and 28mm “thorfloor2”, quick response time, and dry installation method.
Is our system compatible with all floor types?
Yes, our system is suitable for tiles, wood, laminate, and carpets. However, always seek advice on the best option for your floor finish.
How long does installation typically take?
Installation is faster than traditional systems due to the modular, dry-installation method. The exact time depends on the size of the project, on who is fitting the product – Home owner/ builder/plumber – but generally, the ground floor can be fitted in one day.
Can this system be used with renewable energy sources?
Yes. Our system works exceptionally well with heat pumps, solar panels, and other renewable energy sources, making it an eco-friendly choice for modern homes.
How does the system work—what is hydronic heating?
Our system uses water heated by a boiler or heat source, which circulates through pipes under the floor to provide even, radiant heat. The pipes in the heating system are fitted very close to the underside of your finished floor with foiled and grooved product projecting heat upwards to give quick heat up times.
What is the height of the system?
Our low-profile system adds minimal height, typically between 18-28 mm, making it perfect for retrofits or renovations where floor height is a concern.
What’s the system’s energy efficiency compared to radiators?
Underfloor heating operates at lower temperatures (35-40°C) than radiators (60-75°C), reducing energy consumption while maintaining comfort. Over time, this leads to significant savings on energy bills, for every reduction of 1 degree, there is a saving in the region of 2.5% in your running cost.
Can the system be zoned for different areas of the house?
Yes, our system supports zoning, allowing you to control the temperature in individual rooms or areas independently. This maximizes energy efficiency and comfort.
Do I need a specific type of boiler or heat source?
Our system is compatible with standard gas or oil boilers, heat pumps, and even renewable energy systems. We can help you determine the best setup for your project.
Can this system be installed in older homes?
Yes, our system is ideal for retrofits, as it requires minimal floor height adjustments or structural work.
Do you provide installation services, or do I need my plumber?
While we don’t directly install, we work closely with your plumber or heating contractor. We provide technical support and guidance to ensure a smooth installation.
What maintenance does the system require?
Maintenance is minimal—just regular checks to ensure the system is functioning optimally. Hydronic systems are robust and typically require less maintenance than radiators.
What is the expected lifespan of the system?
With proper installation and care, the system can last 25 years or more. The pipes themselves often come with warranties of up to 50 years.
